A guy from work, who’s British, said that people are actually buying them. Overpriced survival rations, like in the fucking Cold War.

From what he said, it’s quite sad really. Some people in Britain moved from online shopping of imported products from their favorite vacation places, like Spain, Portugal, France, Italy or America to buying canned survival food that probably tastes like feet.
Oh well, it will come handy when the zombie apocalypse takes place.

Forget the food, stockpile car parts

Tell me about it. To live in London, in 2019 and to buy survival rations like you ’re expecting German/Russian bombers overhead, it’s pretty damn unreal.

Yeah, we get it, Brexit.
Hey, anyone else getting ready for St. Paddy’s Day, when we can hate on Britain again?
Gimme a country that’s got back the Great
a race of winners not cramped by the State
and only the helpless get left at the gate
Fly the flag...

They can just hire Eastern Europeans to fix the cars with exposed metalic wires . That’s like Eastern European duct tape.

The irony is that it’s probably Leavers who are buying them.

My dad still has boxes in his basement labeled “Y2K”, pretty sure none of that stuff’s edible at this point.

After reading about the potato famine, I think Ireland should buy all the food Britain grows and let them starve.

Some of those have a 20-30 year lifespan. It should be funny to try some out.

Like that dumb, fucking flower salesmen from the show. Oh is my vote gonna ruin me, my family and my employees? Screw it! I’m just gonna enjoy giving my British middle finger to those eggheads in Bruxelles !

“Pharmaceutical companies have been asked by the Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC) to have a minimum of six weeks’ extra supply over and above their usual reserves. Novo Nordisk, a healthcare company that focuses on diabetes care have been making preparations to ensure supplies of insulin and aren’t taking any chances. “Normally our reserves are for 7-8 weeks. At the moment, we have 17 weeks of stock ready to go, and have contacted an air freight firm that’s on standby should we need extra supplies to be brought in,” said a spokesperson.”
At this point it is a bit more than just hype.

It’s one thing for a hospital to stock up on things ensuring they have enough supplies to get through delivery hiccups and new supplier woes, but it’s something completely different for an average apartment dweller to stock up on MREs and emergency supplies like the world’s going to end. The fact that your example is happening shows that the kit in the OP is unnecessary.

In the event of a no deal brexit.:
It is currently winter, The U.K. imports over 40% of its food for the months of March April and May. If which is likely a no deal occurs all foreign food will have a 30% tariff added on. Additionally it is expected there to be massive delays at the ports as all trucks need to be inspected. So add a day fresh fruit and veg from Spain. Spoilage willl increase, shipping costs will increase and prices for items available willl increase. For a couple weeks things will probably be slightly inconvenient, but after that stores are going to have difficulty re stock in g the shelves.

And on top EU farm subsidies make up 40-50 of U.K. farm income. There is a plan for the government to fill some of the gap, but many have questioned how the U.K. will fund it.
